Important Update: Bigfoot Boogie 5K & McCaysville Flooding
November 5, 2026 5:29 PM
Hello Riverwalk Run Series Friends,
As many of you may have heard, our communities of McCaysville, Georgia, and Copperhill, Tennessee, have once again experienced devastating flooding, leaving many local families, residents, and businesses facing significant challenges.
Our hearts are with everyone affected, and we're incredibly grateful to the first responders, emergency personnel, and neighbors who are working tirelessly to help those in need.
Regarding the November 14 Twisted Tomato McCaysville Bigfoot Boogie 5K:
With our event just over a week away, we understand that many of you are making travel plans and wondering whether the race will proceed as scheduled.
At this time, it's simply too early to make that determination. We're working closely with Start 2 Finish Atlanta and communicating with local officials to evaluate conditions and determine the most appropriate path forward. While we do so, we have temporarily put the in-person 5K sub-event on pause.
The safety and well-being of our community, participants, and volunteers remain our highest priority.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this situation. We'll communicate any decisions directly to registered participants as soon as we have more clarity.
For Those Wishing to Help:
The Fannin County Chamber of Commerce has established a centralized resource page with information on recovery assistance, needed supplies, donation locations, and ways to support those affected.
